For parents

Help your child pass Grade 5 theory — even if you don’t read music

You don’t need to know what a perfect cadence is to help. The mocks and trainers explain every mistake to your child, and you can see whether they’re getting there.

Modelled on the ABRSM Grade 5 digital exam. Not official ABRSM papers, and not affiliated with ABRSM.

Sound familiar?

You can’t check their answers

Theory homework is hard to help with when the answers look like a foreign language.

One lesson a week isn’t much

Teachers have limited time, and theory often gets squeezed by the instrument.

Exam nerves

The first time a child sees the online exam shouldn’t be on exam day.

What you get: mock exams, trainers and tracking

Mock exams that feel like the real thing

Full papers in the same order as the online exam, 60 items and 75 marks. Your child can browse one with explanations first, then sit timed papers. By exam day the format feels familiar.

A patient explanation for every mistake

Your child sees why an answer was wrong, step by step, as often as they need, without you having to explain it.

Short trainers for each topic

Ten-minute sessions on intervals, keys, rhythm, chords and terms, with a drill for each of the 30 parts of the paper. They fit before school or after practice.

Track their progress yourself

The readiness overview shows each section in plain terms, so you can see whether practice is working without reading music. If they have a teacher, the teacher sees the same overview and sets the next task.

Three ways to practise

Train one section at a time

A trainer for each of the 30 paper subsections, from time signatures to music in context. Get something wrong and the system explains why, step by step, then gives you another one.

Walk through a complete paper in exam order and answer as you go. Each explanation appears straight away, so it’s a guided tour of the exam, not a test.

Take it under exam conditions

Sit a timed paper with explanations held back until the end. You get a mark out of 75 and a pass / merit / distinction grade, just like exam day.

How families use it

  1. Step 1

    Do the 10-minute check together

Free and no account needed. You’ll both see where things stand.

  2. Step 2

Let them try the free mock

One full paper with explanations, after a free login. It’s the best way to see whether it suits your child.

  3. Step 3

    A little practice most days

Short trainer sessions beat a weekend cram. The trainers pick up where they left off.

  4. Step 4

Timed mocks in the last weeks

A mark out of 75 shows whether they’re safely above the pass mark of 50.

Frequently asked questions

Is it suitable for children?
Yes. Most Grade 5 theory candidates are children and teenagers. Questions are short, clearly laid out and explained when they get them wrong.
My child already has a teacher. Is this extra?
It works alongside lessons. The teacher can link your child to their account and see the same progress overview, so practice at home supports what happens in lessons.
How much does it cost?
The check and one full mock paper are free. Basic is £7.99 a month for unlimited mocks and trainers, and you can cancel once the exam is passed.
