Talk to the AI Teaching Assistant

For Grade 5 theory teachers

Mock exams your students can’t memorise — and you never mark

You already know the syllabus inside out. What eats your time is finding fresh papers, marking them, and working out who is really ready to enter. The system does those three jobs, so lessons go on teaching.

Modelled on the ABRSM Grade 5 digital exam. Not official ABRSM papers, and not affiliated with ABRSM.

Sound familiar?

The practice papers run out

There are only a handful of official sample papers. Strong students have seen them all twice, and a remembered answer tells you nothing about readiness.

Marking takes your evenings

A full 75-mark paper per student per week adds up fast. And the marks still don’t tell you which subsection is behind.

‘Ready to enter?’ is a guess

You see a student once a week. Between lessons you have no idea if they practised, or what they keep getting wrong.

What you get: mock exams, trainers and tracking

Unlimited regenerated mock papers

Every paper follows the digital exam item by item, 60 items from 1.1a to 7.5b, 75 marks. The questions are generated fresh each time, so a student can sit ten mocks and never meet the same one.

Train, browse or sit the exam

Students can drill one section with every error explained, browse a full paper with explanations as they go, or sit it under timed exam conditions for a mark out of 75 and a grade.

Unlimited classroom use

Put a paper or a trainer on the screen in a lesson or a group class, as often as you like. Work through it together and let the explanations back you up.

A drill for each of the 30 subsections

Weak at 4.2 interval quality or 5.3 chord boxes? There is a drill built from the same question generators as the mock, so practice transfers straight to the paper.

Track every student

Mock answers and drills feed one readiness overview per student, broken down by syllabus section. The teaching assistant ranks what each student should practise next, and you assign it in one click.

Three ways to practise

Train one section at a time

A trainer for each of the 30 paper subsections, from time signatures to music in context. Get something wrong and the system explains why, step by step, then gives you another one.

Open the section trainers →

Browse the full exam

Walk through a complete paper in exam order and answer as you go. Each explanation appears straight away, so it’s a guided tour of the exam, not a test.

Take it under exam conditions

Sit a timed paper with explanations held back until the end. You get a mark out of 75 and a pass / merit / distinction grade, just like exam day.

How specialist teachers run a term with it

  1. Step 1

    Week 1: baseline mock

Every student sits a timed mock. You get a mark out of 75 and a section breakdown without marking anything.

  2. Step 2

    Weeks 2–6: targeted drills

Assign the weakest two or three subsections per student. Use lesson time for the topics that need a human explanation.

  3. Step 3

Weeks 7–10: a mock every week or two

Fresh papers each time, so improving marks mean real learning rather than remembered answers.

  4. Step 4

    Before entry: check the overview

Enter students when the overview and their recent mocks agree, not when the calendar says so.

Frequently asked questions

Are these official ABRSM papers?
No. They are modelled on the ABRSM Grade 5 digital exam: the same sections, the same item order (1.1a to 7.5b) and the same 75-mark total. The questions are generated, not copied from official papers. Use them alongside ABRSM’s own sample papers.
Can students sit mocks at home without me?
Yes. Students log in to their own account and their mocks and drills feed your overview automatically. You can also create accounts by name only and open them as the student in class.
Do I still need to mark anything?
No. Every item is marked automatically, and timed mocks give a mark out of 75 with a grade. You spend your time on the students’ mistakes instead.
